The University of Ghana has officially inaugurated the Alex A. Dadey Centre, a multipurpose facility dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Alexander Apau Dadey Snr. The centre, constructed through a partnership between the University of Ghana Alumni Association and the KGL Group of Companies, is designed to serve as a primary hub for university events. Beyond its function as a venue, the facility is intended to operate as a revenue-generating asset to support various academic and infrastructural initiatives at the institution.
The naming of the facility honors Dr. Dadey’s significant contributions to education and public service in Ghana. Dr. Dadey served as a member of the University of Ghana Council between 1978 and 1985, a period during which he was recognized for his mentorship and advocacy for societal transformation through learning. The project highlights his legacy as a dedicated public servant and underscores the university's commitment to recognizing alumni and leaders who have shaped its history.
As part of the partnership, the KGL Foundation has committed to funding the centre for a duration of 20 years. This long-term support is intended to ensure the facility remains a sustainable resource for the university community. The foundation also indicated that the centre is the first of several legacy initiatives planned to uphold Dr. Dadey’s vision. By providing a modern space for hosting international conferences and local gatherings, the university aims to strengthen its financial independence while honoring a key figure in its institutional development.
