The Women’s Fellowship of the Trinity United Church in Legon has presented a range of medical supplies and personal care items to the Paediatrics Department of the University Hospital, Legon. Led by the fellowship’s President, Dr. Mrs. Patience Anim Hughes, the donation is intended to bolster the hospital's capacity to care for young patients while offering comfort to their families and support to the medical staff.
The donated items included critical clinical supplies such as neonatal probes and dressing retention tape, alongside an assortment of toiletries for the ward. According to the fellowship, this initiative is part of their ongoing commitment to community service and supporting the well-being of children within their immediate environment. Dr. Mrs. Anim Hughes emphasized that the gesture was aimed at encouraging patients and ensuring that the healthcare facility has the necessary tools to provide high-quality care for the children in their charge.
The Head of the Paediatrics Department, Dr. Bonuedie Agyeiwaa, received the items on behalf of the hospital. She expressed profound gratitude for the fellowship's generosity, noting that the specialized clinical supplies would significantly enhance patient care. Furthermore, she highlighted that the donation would promote better hygiene among health workers, which is essential for maintaining safety standards in a paediatric environment.
This donation comes at a time when local healthcare facilities often benefit from the support of community and faith-based organizations to supplement their resources. By focusing on the paediatric ward, the Trinity United Church Women’s Fellowship highlights the importance of targeted support for vulnerable patient populations, ensuring that private contributions can have a meaningful impact on clinical outcomes and patient recovery.
