The Ministry of Roads and Highways has donated GH₵100,000 to the Ga Mantse Foundation to support the development of vulnerable young people and communities within the Ga State. The financial contribution follows a formal appeal from the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, for institutional assistance to bolster his social intervention programmes. The funds are designated for initiatives focusing on education, skills development, and the welfare of underprivileged groups.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, upon receiving the donation, highlighted the foundation’s critical ongoing projects, including the construction of schools and the provision of scholarships for deserving students. A primary objective of the foundation is to assist young girls who have had their education interrupted by pregnancy. The King emphasized that the foundation is committed to providing these girls with the necessary support to return to the classroom and complete their education, ensuring they are not left behind due to social challenges.
Representing the Ministry, Chief Director Samuel Kwasi Akuaku underscored the government's commitment to community development. He announced that beyond this initial donation, the staff of the Ministry of Roads and Highways have pledged to make annual contributions to the Ga Mantse Foundation. This ongoing commitment is intended to provide a sustainable stream of funding for the foundation's social welfare projects and educational outreach.
The partnership between the Ministry and the Ga State leadership reflects a collaborative approach to addressing grassroots developmental needs. By supporting traditional authorities in their philanthropic efforts, the Ministry aims to extend its corporate social responsibility to areas that directly impact the lives of vulnerable youth. The donation is expected to provide immediate relief and long-term opportunities for beneficiaries under the foundation's various welfare schemes.
