The Melcom Care Foundation has completed a week-long philanthropic initiative, providing a total of 1,000 cooked meals to five children's homes and the Accra Rehabilitation Centre. Operating under the foundation's "Do Good" corporate social responsibility (CSR) framework, the project delivered 200 meals daily to support the upkeep of vulnerable children and inmates across the Greater Accra Region. This outreach is part of a broader commitment to community service and social welfare, aimed at providing immediate nutritional support while engaging with the community.
The donation tour spanned several facilities, including the Osu Children’s Home, Teshie Children’s Home, Blissful Children’s Home, and Nyameduya Children’s Home, before concluding at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre. Joseph Kpormegbey, the Public Relations Officer for Melcom, stated that the foundation remains inspired by the legacy of its late Chairman, whose vision focused on consistently giving back to society. Beyond the provision of food, the initiative sought to create opportunities for interaction with the children and residents, fostering a sense of inclusion and care.
At the Osu Children's Home, Centre Manager Ms. Priscilla Asare expressed gratitude for the contribution, noting the importance of such support for the home's daily operations. Similar sentiments were shared at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, where the management highlighted Melcom's ongoing dedication to supporting vulnerable groups and educational institutions. In addition to the food donation, the foundation has pledged further assistance to the rehabilitation centre, specifically promising to provide teaching materials to enhance the facility's vocational and educational programmes.
