
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her family following reports of alleged domestic abuse. The visit was intended to provide immediate state support and assess the welfare of the household after the allegations became public. Dr. Lartey's engagement underscores the government's commitment to intervening in cases of domestic violence and ensuring that victims have access to the necessary social services.
During the meeting, the Minister assured Nana Akua Addo and her children of the Ministry's full support. She emphasized the critical need for a safe and stable environment, particularly for the children involved. To this end, the Ministry has committed to providing psychosocial support and other safeguarding measures to help the family manage the trauma associated with the reported incidents. Dr. Lartey stressed that the Ministry's priority is to protect the dignity and safety of every family member while the situation is being addressed.
The Ministry is currently working in close coordination with the Ghana Police Service as they conduct their formal investigations into the matter. In addition to supporting the immediate family, the Minister noted that there are plans to engage Nana Akua Addo’s husband to offer further assistance and ensure a comprehensive resolution. This collaborative approach highlights the Ministry’s dedication to working with relevant state institutions to uphold social protection laws and safeguard the rights of individuals within the domestic setting.
