The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has conducted a field inspection of the ongoing Big Push feeder road projects in the Nkoranza North District. During the visit, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the construction, noting that work on several key routes is currently ahead of schedule. Funded by the Consolidated Fund, the Big Push initiative is a strategic infrastructure programme designed to enhance regional connectivity and support local development through substantial road upgrades.
The inspection provided specific updates on the progress of three major road stretches in the district. The Bono Manso-Kranka-Pinhini road has reached a completion level of 56%, while the Tankor-Fiema-Buabeng-Busunua road stands at 46.8%. Additionally, work on the Bodom-Senya-Bonte-Busunua road is currently 43.6% complete. Minister Owusu Antwi commended the contractors for their efficiency, highlighting that these milestones demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting project deadlines and delivering quality infrastructure to the people of Bono East.
Despite the overall positive assessment, the Minister addressed community concerns regarding the durability of U-drains being constructed along the routes. In response to local complaints, he ordered an immediate technical assessment to ensure the infrastructure meets the required engineering standards and will withstand the environmental demands of the region. This directive underscores the administration's focus on quality control and ensuring that public funds result in long-lasting benefits for the community.
The completion of these feeder roads is expected to have a transformative effect on the Nkoranza North District by significantly improving access to essential services, including schools and healthcare facilities. Beyond social benefits, the projects are intended to stimulate the local economy, create jobs, and provide a critical boost to the agriculture and tourism sectors. Regional stakeholders remain optimistic that the enhanced road network will facilitate the easier transport of goods and services, ultimately improving the standard of living across the district.
