Rango Construction Limited has reported that the theft of construction materials, specifically gravel, is significantly slowing progress on the Jinijini-Sampa Road Project in the Bono Region. The contractor expressed concern that these illegal activities are undermining the timeline for a project vital to the region's transport network. The issue came to light during a recent public engagement where the company appealed for greater community involvement in safeguarding equipment and materials.
Speaking at a ceremony hosted by the Berekum West District Assembly, Mr. Felix Agyei, the Public Relations Officer for Rango Construction, urged local residents to support the project by helping to prevent further thefts. He noted that the unauthorized removal of gravel from the construction site creates logistical hurdles and financial losses that directly impact the speed of delivery. The appeal was made in the presence of local leaders during an event where the Assembly was also distributing support items to 57 Persons with Disabilities to enhance their livelihoods.
The Jinijini-Sampa road development is a key part of the Government’s "Big Push" infrastructure initiative, which seeks to modernize the country’s road networks. The project has a long-term completion target of 2028, and maintaining a steady pace is crucial for meeting this deadline. While the District Chief Executive focused on the social welfare of residents during the event, the underlying message from the construction firm was clear: the success of large-scale infrastructure depends heavily on the protection of assets by the communities they are intended to serve.
