The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Afadzato South, Manfred Tawiah, has officially inaugurated the second phase of a comprehensive 20-project infrastructure programme. This initiative is designed to bolster essential services and improve social amenities across several communities within the district. The project rollout reflects the District Assembly’s strategy to address longstanding gaps in basic infrastructure that have impacted the quality of life for local residents.
A major component of the recent commissioning involved the handover of mechanised borehole water installations. Communities including Goviefe Todzi, Have Atsiame, and Nyagbo Odumase now have access to reliable potable water, directly addressing critical shortages that have historically challenged these areas. In Liati Dzogbega, where a new borehole was also completed, residents expressed their appreciation for the improved water access while taking the opportunity to appeal for further support, specifically regarding the construction of a kindergarten school to improve early childhood education.
Beyond water infrastructure, the Assembly has prioritised the education sector by completing and inaugurating a new teachers’ bungalow in Tafi Mador. This facility is intended to alleviate chronic accommodation challenges for educators, which is often a significant barrier to maintaining consistent teaching standards in rural districts. By providing dedicated housing, the local government aims to create a more conducive environment for teachers and ensure that qualified staff are both attracted to and retained within the district’s schools.
These projects form part of a broader commitment by the Afadzato South District Assembly to enhance living conditions through targeted physical and social infrastructure. The DCE indicated that these interventions are responsive to the specific needs voiced by community members, ensuring that public funds are directed toward the most pressing local priorities. The completion of this phase marks a significant step in the district’s ongoing efforts to achieve sustainable development and improve the general welfare of its population.
