The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has formally commended the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, for his role in ensuring stability within Ghana’s petroleum market. Speaking at a performance review retreat for energy sector agencies, the Minister highlighted the NPA’s success in navigating the complexities of the global energy market, which has faced significant volatility. He praised the regulator for its proactive measures in shielding the domestic market from international price fluctuations and supply chain disruptions.
During the session, Dr. Jinapor noted that the NPA’s leadership was instrumental in preventing fuel shortages and maintaining a steady supply of petroleum products across the country. He emphasized that this stability is a vital component of the government's broader economic strategy, as it helps to manage the cost of living and provides a predictable environment for businesses. The Minister credited the authority's strategic management for ensuring that the downstream sector remained resilient despite various external pressures.
The Minister also extended his appreciation to the leadership of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) for their collaborative efforts. He pointed out that the synergy between the NPA as a regulator and BOST as a strategic storage entity has been vital in managing market uncertainties. By maintaining robust strategic reserves and implementing efficient distribution protocols, these agencies have collectively strengthened Ghana’s energy security framework. The retreat served as a platform to review these institutional successes and identify ways to further enhance operational capacity.
Concluding his remarks, Dr. Jinapor urged the leadership of the energy sector agencies to remain vigilant and innovative. He stressed the importance of transparency and efficiency in the administration of the petroleum sector, noting that the government remains committed to supporting these agencies as they work to ensure a reliable and affordable energy supply. The Minister reaffirmed that institutional excellence within the NPA and its partner agencies is essential for achieving the nation's long-term energy sustainability and economic development goals.
