The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has commended the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and its leadership for ensuring stability within Ghana’s petroleum market. Speaking at a performance review session held in Ho, the Minister highlighted the sector's resilience during a period of significant global economic and geopolitical volatility. He specifically credited the strategic management of the authority for shielding the domestic market from the worst effects of international supply chain disruptions.
Dr. Jinapor extended particular praise to the Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, for his role in navigating the uncertainties caused by ongoing global conflicts. According to the Minister, the NPA’s proactive approach has allowed Ghana to manage its petroleum sector more effectively than many of its international peers. He noted that the collaboration between the NPA and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has been instrumental in securing the nation's energy needs and preventing the severe shortages or extreme price spikes seen in other regions.
The Minister emphasized that the current stability is the result of deliberate policy decisions and the cultivation of strategic relationships within the industry. By maintaining a steady supply and managing price fluctuations amidst external pressures, the NPA has played a critical role in supporting the broader national economy. Dr. Jinapor concluded by urging the authority to continue its rigorous oversight to ensure that Ghana remains resilient against future global market shocks while the ministry continues its broader agenda for energy transition.
