The Fruitful Woman Organisation has conducted a comprehensive free health screening exercise for residents of the Anyaa community. Organized in collaboration with BME Diagnostics and Health Care and Christ Reigns Montessori School, the event aimed to provide essential medical services and raise awareness about critical health issues. The initiative took place last Saturday, specifically targeting the local population during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to ensure that underserved individuals could access vital diagnostic services without financial barriers.
The screening covered a wide range of medical checks, including blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, malaria diagnostics, eye examinations, and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments. A central focus of the exercise was breast health, where clinical examinations were performed alongside free breast ultrasound scans. The event was chaired by the Member of Parliament for the area, Emmanuel Tobbin, who supported the drive to promote preventive healthcare within his constituency.
Beatrice Safori, representing the Fruitful Woman Organisation, emphasized that the initiative was designed to empower and inspire women by providing them with the knowledge and tools needed for early detection. She noted that early diagnosis remains the most effective strategy in managing health conditions like breast cancer and hypertension. Many participants, some of whom were undergoing breast screenings for the first time, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to consult with healthcare professionals and receive diagnostic tests that they might otherwise have struggled to afford.
This community-focused intervention highlights the ongoing efforts of non-governmental organizations to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility in Ghana. By bringing diagnostic services directly to the people of Anyaa, the Fruitful Woman Organisation and its partners have reinforced the importance of regular medical check-ups. The success of the event underscores a growing demand for localized health initiatives that prioritize preventive care and public education to improve long-term health outcomes in urban and peri-urban settlements.
