The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a significant reshuffle of its national executive leadership, appointing Dr. Augustine Blay as the new Director of Elections. Dr. Blay, who previously served as the Executive Secretary to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and led the digital wing of the 2024 presidential campaign, succeeds Evans Nimako. This transition is part of a broader organizational restructuring intended to strengthen the party's internal operations and electoral strategy as it transitions into opposition following the 2024 general elections.
Alongside the change in election directorate, the party has designated several key figures to leadership positions, including Barbara Oteng Gyasi, Charles Bintim, and Amayaw Chereme as Vice-Chairpersons. The reshuffle also includes the appointment of Ms. Sandra Sarkodee-Addo as the Deputy Director of Protocol. Ms. Sarkodee-Addo, a former Deputy National Youth Organiser with a legal background, is expected to leverage her experience in international relations to manage official engagements and stakeholder relations for the party.
The party is also reinforcing its organizational and communication arms with the appointments of Pope Yao Yevoo as Deputy National Organiser and Abdul Ganiyu as National Deputy Communications Director. Yevoo, the immediate past Volta Regional Secretary, brings over 20 years of experience in grassroots mobilization to the national level. Meanwhile, Ganiyu has committed to a "grassroots-focused" communication strategy, aiming to move beyond traditional messaging to better address citizen concerns and rebuild public trust ahead of the 2028 electoral cycle.
These appointments reflect a strategic pivot by the NPP to integrate experienced regional administrators and young professionals into its national structure. By filling critical roles in administration, research, IT, and finance, the party leadership intends to modernize its internal systems. This comprehensive overhaul serves as the first major step in the NPP's long-term plan to enhance membership engagement and refine its policy presentation before the next general election.
