Minister of Roads and Highways Governs Kwame Agbodza has announced that contractors working under the government's 'Big Push' Road Infrastructure programme will receive prompt payments for their work. The assurance comes as the Ministry seeks to eliminate previous delays in honoring payment certificates and ensure that major road projects across the country continue without interruption. Speaking during a site visit, Agbodza emphasized that the government has prioritized the flow of funds to the sector to prevent the stalling of critical works and maintain the trust of construction firms. During an inspection of key infrastructure projects in the Bono Region, including the Sunyani-Atronie-Acherensua Road and the Outer Ring Road project, the Minister confirmed that funding has been secured. He noted that unlike in previous years, the government is actively addressing arrears to maintain momentum on these developments. Agbodza urged contractors to be proactive in raising their payment certificates as soon as milestones are met, stating that the availability of funds is guaranteed for those who promptly submit their claims. The projects inspected are being executed by Alexiboam and Kofi Job Companies, both of which are central to the regional infrastructure upgrade. Agbodza's confirmation of available funding aims to boost the confidence of indigenous firms and ensure they have the necessary liquidity to maintain their workforce and equipment on-site. The Minister’s tour highlights the administration's broader strategy to use the 'Big Push' initiative as a catalyst for national development through improved connectivity. Both the Sunyani-Atronie-Acherensua Road and the Outer Ring Road projects are expected to be completed within a two-year timeframe. The Ministry of Roads and Highways intends for these regular inspections and the streamlined payment process to serve as a benchmark for other ongoing infrastructure projects nationwide. By ensuring that contractors remain on-site and meet their deadlines, the government hopes to deliver high-quality road networks that support economic growth and ease transportation challenges for citizens.
