The Adisadel College 2002 year group has officially commenced construction on a GH₵4.6 million "Clean Water Hub" designed to provide a sustainable solution to the school's perennial water supply challenges. The initiative, which began with a ceremonial sod-cutting on the Cape Coast campus, is expected to produce approximately 540 cubic meters of water daily. Once operational, the facility will serve the needs of over 5,000 students and staff members, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply of clean water for the entire institution.
The ambitious infrastructure project is intended as a legacy gift to the alma mater to mark the group’s 25th anniversary in 2027. Project coordinators and stakeholders emphasized that the hub is more than a simple utility; it is a strategic intervention to improve the overall living and teaching conditions on campus. By addressing the water deficit, the year group aims to bolster public health and sanitation standards, reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses and improving the daily lives of the student body.
Headmaster Samuel Agudogu expressed his gratitude to the 2002 year group for their foresight and commitment to the school's development. He noted that the project comes at a vital time, as a stable water supply is essential for maintaining the school's facilities and supporting its academic mission. The Clean Water Hub will utilize modern filtration and distribution technology, aimed at eliminating the time and effort students often spend searching for water during periods of shortage, thereby allowing them to focus more on their studies.
The project is scheduled for completion by February 2027, just in time for the group's silver jubilee celebrations. Organizers have called on fellow alumni and corporate stakeholders to support the initiative to ensure it meets its delivery timelines. This development highlights the increasingly critical role that alumni associations play in the maintenance and expansion of educational infrastructure in Ghana, filling gaps in state provision through dedicated community-led efforts.
