Police in the Bono East Region have granted bail to two teachers from Techiman Senior High School following an investigation into the alleged physical assault of a 17-year-old student. The suspects, identified as Ameyaw Adusa and Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe, were questioned after a video depicting the incident began circulating on social media. The incident reportedly took place on campus on October 23, 2026, prompting immediate concern from the public and educational authorities.
According to police investigations, the confrontation escalated after the student was accused of bullying two junior students and demanding money from them. While the viral footage captures the teachers physically assaulting the teenager, investigators have emphasized that there are additional circumstances surrounding the event that must be fully explored. The teachers were granted self-recognisance bail after a scheduled court appearance was delayed due to an ongoing industrial strike by judicial staff.
The victim has since received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the encounter, along with psychological support to help him manage the trauma. The school's headmaster has confirmed that calm has been restored to the campus and expressed confidence in the police investigation. Authorities are currently gathering further medical evidence and witness statements to determine the final course of legal action and ensure any found guilty are prosecuted.
