The Sunyani Traditional Council (STC) has officially launched the "Sunyani 2036 Development Agenda," a comprehensive 10-year roadmap designed to drive holistic growth and modernization across the region. Introduced by the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the initiative seeks to align traditional leadership with contemporary socio-economic needs through strategic planning and institutional reform.
Central to the agenda is the establishment of a Stool Lands Office, which is intended to resolve and prevent land disputes that have historically hindered local progress. Additionally, the Council plans to launch an Educational Trust Fund to provide financial support for students and a Community Wi-Fi Project to enhance digital literacy and academic research. These projects represent a shift toward structured governance and technology-driven development within the traditional area.
During a meeting with representatives from various corporate bodies, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II emphasized that peace and unity remain the bedrock of any successful development effort. He urged the private sector to partner with the traditional authority to tackle pressing local challenges, specifically highlighting the need for investment to create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth and to address the growing housing deficit in Sunyani.
The launch of the Sunyani 2036 Development Agenda marks a significant step in the Council's efforts to provide a clear direction for the area's evolution over the next decade. By seeking direct collaboration with corporate entities and focusing on infrastructure, education, and land security, the STC aims to transform Sunyani into a more resilient and self-sufficient economic hub by the year 2036.
