Nana Kwarteng Apegyabie Prempeh II has been officially enstooled as the Chief of Nerebehi, assuming the traditional title of Bantamahene Apakanhene. The formal ceremony took place on October 22, 2026, at the Bantama Palace in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region. This enstoolment follows his unanimous nomination by the kingmakers of the area on July 31, 2026, marking a new chapter in the traditional leadership of the community.
During the colorful ceremony, which was attended by residents, sub-chiefs, and family members, Nana Prempeh II swore an oath of allegiance to the Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia IV. In his address, the Bantamahene charged the new chief to prioritize the welfare of his people and foster a spirit of togetherness. He emphasized the importance of using traditional authority to drive socio-economic growth within Nerebehi and the twelve surrounding communities that fall under the new chief's jurisdiction.
The new chief, who previously served as the Chairman of the Federation of Kumasi Traders, expressed his deep gratitude for the community's support and the kingmakers' trust. He committed to leading with humility and transparency, urging his subjects to collaborate with him to ensure peace and progress. Nana Prempeh II highlighted his vision for community development, noting that his leadership would focus on addressing the immediate needs of the township while preserving the cultural heritage of the area.
As the traditional council of Nerebehi begins this new era, local stakeholders remain optimistic that the experience Nana Prempeh II gained in the commercial sector will translate into effective traditional governance. His enstoolment is seen as a strategic move to leverage his organizational background for the benefit of the municipality. The Chief concluded his remarks by calling for an end to any lingering disputes, stressing that unity is the only path toward achieving lasting prosperity for all communities under his care.
