The Akwamuhene, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, has called for a significant shift in Ghana’s educational system to prioritize the development of identity, character, and self-reliance among students. Speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of Corri Creche and Crimson Dawn Schools, the traditional leader emphasized that education must go beyond academic instruction to create thinkers and innovators who are empowered to reach their full potential. He maintained that every child is a valuable asset to the nation and must be nurtured with the right values to contribute meaningfully to society.
The anniversary event also served as a milestone for the schools, which were established in 2001 to provide quality early childhood education and address critical childcare needs. The Director of the schools, Corrinne Sackey, recounted the journey of the institution from its modest beginnings to its current status, now serving a student population of 450. The celebration highlighted the school's commitment to fostering an environment where innovation and discipline are central to the learning experience.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the formal inauguration of the Corricrim Alumni Network. This new platform is designed to connect former students, fostering a sense of community and providing a structured way for alumni to give back to their alma mater. Speakers at the event underscored that the network would play a vital role in mentoring current students and supporting the ongoing growth of the school community.
In his concluding remarks, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III stressed that the future of the country depends on an educational foundation that emphasizes strong moral character alongside intellectual growth. He urged educators and parents to collaborate in instilling self-reliance in the younger generation, ensuring they are equipped to navigate the challenges of the modern world with confidence and integrity.
