Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, has clarified that his recent remarks concerning expectations of a government appointment under President John Mahama were made in jest. The clergyman had previously suggested in an interview that he anticipated being named as a Minister for Religious Affairs or a member of the Council of State. Following significant public discourse, Gaisie urged Ghanaians to take those specific comments lightly, expressing some frustration that his joking demeanor was not recognized by the public.
Despite the clarification regarding the tone of his initial remarks, Gaisie maintained his stance that religious leaders should play an active role in national governance. He argued that his educational background and extensive experience in religious leadership would allow him to contribute effectively to the country's development. To support his position, he cited examples from other nations where members of the clergy successfully balance their pastoral duties with formal political responsibilities, asserting that such involvement bridges the gap between the church and the state.
Looking toward the future, the prophet indicated that his willingness to serve the nation transcends partisan lines. He stated that he would consider a suitable political appointment even from an administration led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), provided the role was in the best interest of Ghana. Gaisie emphasized that any decision to accept a government position would be motivated by a desire to see the nation prosper and would not hinder his ongoing commitment to his ministry.
