The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has established a strict window from November 7 to November 9 for the submission of nomination forms for its upcoming national executive elections. Mahdi Gibril, the party’s Director of Elections and IT, emphasized that the November 9 deadline is final, and any aspirant who fails to submit their documents in person by this date will face automatic disqualification. These internal elections are scheduled to take place on December 19, 2026, as part of the party’s broader strategy to reorganize ahead of future general elections.
Aspirants are required to submit completed nomination documents, specifically Forms A, B, and C, at the NDC National Headquarters. In addition to these forms, candidates must provide their curriculum vitae, photographs, and proof of payment for the required filing fees. The party clarified that while online registration steps may be available, physical, in-person filing is mandatory to secure a spot on the ballot. Although the process was originally set to begin early on November 7, the start time was adjusted to 12:00 noon to accommodate the national monthly clean-up exercise.
Following the close of nominations, the NDC will initiate a vetting process scheduled for November 11 and 12. Successful candidates will proceed to balloting for their positions on the ballot paper immediately after being cleared by the committee. An appeals process is also slated for November 15 and 16 to address any disputes or issues arising from the vetting stage. This sequence of events is designed to ensure the transparency and integrity of the party's internal democratic procedures leading up to the national congress.
To maintain order throughout the electoral process, the party is coordinating with the Ghana Police Service for security. Mahdi Gibril emphasized that only state security personnel will be permitted at voting venues, with a strict prohibition on the use of private security or unauthorized personnel. The Electoral Commission will oversee the conduct of the polls, including regional executive elections set for November 14. These measures are intended to produce a credible election result as the party finalizes its leadership structure.
