MTN Ghana Foundation has granted scholarships to 500 deserving students and teachers for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year. This latest round of funding is part of the MTN Bright Scholarship initiative, which targets high-achieving but financially disadvantaged individuals seeking tertiary education. The selection marks the second cohort of a three-year commitment by the telecommunications company to enhance human capital and improve access to quality education across Ghana. The 2026/2027 scholarship package is designed to provide comprehensive support, covering full tuition fees, accommodation, and regular stipends. To facilitate digital learning in the modern era, each beneficiary will also receive a laptop. This year, the foundation placed a specific emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, aiming to equip students with the skills necessary for the global digital economy. Both public and private university students were eligible for the award, ensuring a broad reach across the national academic landscape. The foundation reported receiving more than 5,000 applications for this cohort, illustrating the immense pressure on existing educational funding structures. The selection process prioritized those with exceptional academic records who would otherwise struggle to meet the costs of higher education. Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude during the award ceremony, noting that the scholarship removes a significant barrier to their professional development and allows them to focus entirely on their studies. As the second phase of a three-year strategic program, the MTN Bright Scholarship continues to play a vital role in Ghana’s educational ecosystem. By supporting both students and teachers, the initiative acknowledges the dual importance of student success and instructional quality. The foundation’s ongoing investment is expected to yield long-term benefits for the country as these 500 scholars transition into various professional roles, particularly in technical sectors critical to national progress.
