Karpowership Ghana has committed GH₵210,550 to support the education of 63 engineering students at Takoradi Technical University (TTU) for the 2026/2027 academic year. This latest investment marks an expansion of the company's scholarship scheme, which was first established in 2022 to provide financial relief and academic encouragement to high-performing students in technical fields. The program aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical industry needs by alleviating the financial burden on promising students.
The scholarship program covers full tuition fees for students across various disciplines, ensuring they can focus entirely on their academic pursuits. While previously focused on Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering, the initiative has now been broadened to include Petroleum Engineering. This expansion reflects the growing importance of the petroleum sector in Ghana's energy landscape. Managing Director of Karpowership Ghana, Oscar Kojo Amonoo-Neizer, emphasized that the company views education as a transformative tool capable of shaping the next generation of industry leaders.
A key component of the scholarship scheme is its focus on gender inclusion, specifically aiming to encourage more women to enter and excel in engineering—a field traditionally dominated by men. Mr. Amonoo-Neizer noted that the company is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce within the energy sector. TTU officials and the student beneficiaries expressed significant gratitude for the gesture, highlighting that such partnerships between industry and academia are crucial for developing the human capital needed for Ghana’s industrial growth.
Since its inception four years ago, the Karpowership scholarship scheme has consistently sought to reward excellence and support the development of local talent. By providing these financial resources, the company aims to ensure that talented individuals from diverse backgrounds can contribute to the evolution of Ghana's energy sector. The scholarship is part of a broader corporate social responsibility strategy focused on sustainability and long-term educational empowerment in the communities where the company operates.
