Delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Techiman South constituency have elected Kwasi Boakye as their new chairman, marking a significant shift in the local party leadership. In a decisive contest held at Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman, Boakye unseated the incumbent chairman, Saliu Alhaji Nuhu, by securing 1,203 votes compared to Nuhu's 653. The election results reflect a clear mandate from the delegates for a fresh direction within the constituency's executive body.
The chairmanship race was part of a broader trend during the polls, as several other sitting executives lost their positions. In the contest for communications officer, Baba Issah defeated the incumbent Hassan Balluka. Similarly, Nuhu Abdul Razak successfully unseated Sa-ad Osman to take over the Zongo Caucus leadership. Despite the wave of changes, some executives maintained their roles, with Women's Organiser Hajia Mariama and her deputy both retaining their seats to provide a measure of continuity for the incoming administration.
Following the declaration of results, Chairman-elect Kwasi Boakye called for immediate unity among all party members to prepare for future challenges. He emphasized that the primary goal of the new executive team is to reclaim the Techiman South parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), noting that the seat has "eluded us for too long." Boakye urged his supporters and those of the defeated candidates to work together, stating that a unified front is essential for the party's success in the 2028 elections.
