Kwame Mborale Supply has been elected as the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bimbilla constituency of the Northern Region. This outcome marks a significant milestone in the local political landscape, as Supply becomes the first individual of Konkomba descent to hold this specific executive position within the party in Bimbilla. The election was part of a broader constituency executive poll that saw 1,674 delegates cast their ballots to determine the leadership that will guide the party toward the 2028 general elections.
In the race for the chairmanship, Supply secured a clear victory with 703 votes. He successfully defeated two other candidates: Alhaji Abu Iddrisu, who finished with 504 votes, and Alhassan Ibrahim Kibos, who received 384 votes. The election was highly competitive, with a total of 60 aspirants vying for various positions across the constituency executive body. Among other key results, the position of General Secretary was won by Rashid, who obtained 590 votes to beat out Lafia and Daniel, who received 539 and 465 votes respectively.
Following the declaration of the results, the newly elected executives emphasized the importance of party cohesion. Supply issued a call for unity, urging his former opponents and their supporters to set aside the friction of the campaign and work together for the collective interest of the NDC. He highlighted that the successful and peaceful conduct of the elections, despite some initial logistical concerns, demonstrated the party's readiness for the challenges ahead. The focus of the new administration in Bimbilla will now shift to consolidating grassroots support and preparing the constituency for the national political cycle in 2028.
