The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two men, 40-year-old Kingsley Ozor and 19-year-old Jeffery Otaigbe, in connection with the suspected sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Gomoa Buduburam. The victim, identified as Blessing Innocent, was reported missing on October 19, 2026, after she was last seen on October 17. The suspects are currently in custody as the police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the minor's death. Investigations into the tragic incident revealed that the 19-year-old suspect, Jeffery Otaigbe, allegedly lured the young girl to an unfinished building in the Gomoa Buduburam area. It was at this location that she was reportedly sexually assaulted and subsequently died. The suspects, after being apprehended, admitted that the victim had been in their company and eventually led the police to the site where they had concealed her body. This admission followed a period of searching after the victim's mother had raised the alarm about her daughter's whereabouts. The Central East Regional Police have successfully retrieved the body and moved it to a morgue for a post-mortem examination. This autopsy is expected to provide critical forensic evidence regarding the cause and manner of death to support the prosecution's case. The suspects are being held for further questioning as the regional command prepares to process them for court. The incident has caused significant distress within the local community, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding child safety and the security risks posed by uncompleted structures.
