Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL) has announced that Karen Yip Chuck will take over as the Group President and Chief Executive Officer starting January 1, 2027. This major leadership change comes as part of a structured transition within the financial institution, which operates extensively across the Caribbean and Africa. Mrs. Yip Chuck will succeed Richard S. Sammy, who officially exited the group on October 14, 2026, after a lengthy and distinguished career with the organization. The transition marks the end of an 18-year tenure for Mr. Sammy, who was recognized by the board for his significant contributions to the group's success and regional expansion. Chairman Yashmid Karamath expressed profound gratitude for Mr. Sammy’s service, highlighting the integrity and dedication he brought to his various leadership roles. For his part, Mr. Sammy thanked the organization and its leadership for the support he received during his nearly two decades of service, describing his time with the Republic Group as a rewarding professional journey. Mrs. Yip Chuck’s new mandate will involve leading both the holding company and its primary banking subsidiary. She is slated to serve as the Group President and CEO of RFHL while simultaneously holding the position of President and Managing Director of Republic Bank Limited (RBL). While the group has finalized the internal appointment, the formal change of leadership remains subject to the necessary regulatory approvals. This leadership shift is expected to maintain the group’s strategic direction while ushering in a new era of executive management at the beginning of 2027.
