Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe has called on the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to prioritize service excellence and financial health as the organization celebrates two decades of operations. Speaking at the company’s 20th-anniversary event, the Minister emphasized the need for GACL to build on its established record of infrastructure development to further enhance the passenger experience at various ports across the country. He noted that the company’s future success depends on its ability to leverage past achievements while adapting to the evolving demands of the aviation industry.
During the ceremony, Nikpe highlighted the critical role GACL has played in transforming Ghana’s aviation landscape over the past 20 years. He credited the company with significantly expanding airport infrastructure and strengthening domestic connectivity, which in turn has supported the growth of the nation’s tourism and trade sectors. The Minister noted that these achievements serve as a solid foundation for the next phase of the company's growth, which must focus on maintaining the high standards set during its first two decades.
To maintain this momentum, the Transport Minister urged the management of GACL to focus on long-term financial sustainability. He pointed out that becoming a premier aviation hub in West Africa requires more than just physical structures; it necessitates a commitment to operational efficiency and high-quality service delivery. Nikpe encouraged the company to explore innovative ways to improve air connectivity while ensuring that every passenger's journey is seamless and pleasant, thereby increasing the country's competitiveness in the regional market.
Reaffirming the government’s support, Nikpe stated that the Ministry of Transport would continue to oversee and assist GACL in its strategic mission. He underscored that the ultimate goal is to firmly position Ghana as the leading aviation hub in the region. This objective, according to the Minister, will rely heavily on sustainable infrastructure investments and a relentless focus on meeting international standards of service excellence in the years ahead, ensuring the company remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s transport network.
