The Vice-Chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Ghana (PUG), Professor John Ofosu-Anim, has formally admitted 720 postgraduate students into the university for the 2025/2026 academic year. Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, Prof. Ofosu-Anim welcomed the new intake across various advanced degree programmes, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys. He urged the students to view their admission as a privilege and a call to contribute to national and global development through rigorous study and research.
During his address, Professor Ofosu-Anim issued a stern warning regarding the social dynamics of university life, specifically the impact of peer associations. He emphasized that while building networks is essential for postgraduate success, harmful relationships can lead to academic failure and a loss of focus. The Vice-Chancellor noted that PUG is deeply committed to instilling discipline and moral integrity in its students, ensuring they do not only excel academically but also develop the character required for leadership.
A significant portion of the newly enrolled cohort is pursuing the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme. This particular intake aligns with the university’s strategic goal of addressing the critical global shortage of health professionals. By focusing on public health, the university aims to equip these graduates with the necessary skills to navigate complex health challenges and improve service delivery in the public and private sectors.
Prof. Ofosu-Anim concluded the ceremony by encouraging the freshmen to embrace collaboration and uphold the values of hard work and integrity that define the Presbyterian University. He reminded the students that their time at the institution should be characterized by a pursuit of excellence, urging them to utilize the available resources to prepare themselves for the professional challenges ahead.
