Volta Regional Minister James Gunu has commissioned seven new infrastructure projects in the Ho Municipality, marking a significant milestone in the government's regional development agenda. These projects are part of a broader rollout of nearly 700 initiatives currently being implemented across the Volta Region, primarily funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). The commissioning underscores President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to improving the lives of residents through targeted investments in essential social services.
The newly commissioned facilities are designed to address critical service gaps within the municipality, focusing heavily on healthcare, education, and agriculture. During the ceremony, Mr. Gunu highlighted that the regional development strategy relies on diverse funding streams to ensure comprehensive coverage. In addition to the DACF, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) is currently supporting over 371 projects across the region. These efforts are aimed at providing robust infrastructure for schools and healthcare centers while enhancing support services for local farmers.
To ensure the successful delivery of these initiatives, the Regional Minister emphasized the importance of rigorous project management. He noted that the administration has implemented strategies for the timely allocation of funds and the regular evaluation of contractor performance to prevent delays. Local leaders present at the commissioning expressed their gratitude for the government's responsiveness to community needs. They also urged residents and facility managers to prioritize the maintenance of the new infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainability and value for the public funds invested.
As the government continues its infrastructure drive, the completion of these seven projects in Ho is being treated as a blueprint for the remaining initiatives under construction throughout the region. Mr. Gunu reaffirmed the administration's dedication to keeping its promises to the people of the Volta Region, noting that the ongoing projects represent a comprehensive effort to modernize local communities. The government expects these investments to stimulate local economies and significantly improve the overall standard of living for residents.
