The International Festival of Youth (IFY) 2026 has officially launched in Ekaterinburg, Russia, bringing together approximately 10,000 young participants from 191 countries for a week-long celebration of creativity and cultural exchange. Running from September 11 to 17, 2026, under the motto "Follow Your Dream," the festival serves as a successor to the 2024 World Youth Festival. The event features a diverse array of programming designed to foster international cooperation, headlined by massive art exhibitions and a "gastronomic diplomacy" culinary festival that highlights the shared heritage of youth from across the globe.
A central pillar of the event is the International Art Exhibition, which showcases the works of young artists aged 18 to 35 from over 100 countries. Organized by ANO Tavrida Art in collaboration with the Union of Russian Artists and supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the exhibition explores themes of homeland, identity, and culture. Project head Diana Kovela noted that the selection process was highly competitive due to a high volume of applications. For participants like Marina Kudrina, the platform offers significant career advancement opportunities, placing the work of emerging talents alongside that of established professionals in a broad artistic tapestry.
In addition to the visual arts, the "Tastes of the World" culinary festival is a major attraction, featuring approximately 100 chefs from Russia, China, India, and Syria. The initiative aims to serve 20,000 meals over its four-day duration, offering a menu of 136 unique dishes and drinks. Attendees can experience 19 culinary shows and 63 masterclasses, with highlights including a massive five-meter-long coulibiac and international staples such as chicken dum biryani, jiaozi, and falafel. This effort in gastronomic diplomacy is designed to bridge cultural gaps through the universal language of food.
The IFY 2026 stands as a significant international platform for creative professionals and young leaders to network and share their heritage. By blending traditional arts with interactive culinary experiences, the festival provides a comprehensive view of global youth culture. As the event progresses through mid-September, it continues to reinforce the importance of cross-border dialogue and the role of the younger generation in shaping a collaborative international future.
