Accra's entertainment scene prepares for a significant milestone as The Greatest Band marks its three-year residency at the Soho venue with a special "3RS Celebration of Great Music." The two-day event, scheduled for October 3rd and 4th, 2025, will feature a curated selection of old-time hits, blues, and R&B starting at 9:00 p.m. nightly. Organizers describe the event as a gesture of gratitude toward the audience, highlighting the band's role in creating a vibrant atmosphere and memorable nights for patrons over the last three years. Complementing this celebration of live performance, veteran broadcaster Kafui Dey has issued a call for greater professionalism among event hosts. Drawing on 30 years of experience, Dey advised Masters of Ceremonies (MCs) to focus on enhancing the event rather than self-promotion. He emphasized that an MC should strive for a nearly "invisible" presence that allows the program to shine, rather than using the stage to share personal contact information. According to Dey, excellence in the field is better built through testimonials and a focus on the audience's experience rather than overt self-advertisement. The theme of professional and personal responsibility was further echoed by Nollywood icon Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) during his address at the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference in Lagos. RMD urged citizens to move beyond merely criticizing national challenges and to instead propose actionable solutions. By calling for active participation in the nation's progress, RMD aligns with the broader regional sentiment that those within the creative arts must contribute positively to their societies. Together, these stories reflect a West African entertainment industry that is maturing through celebration, professional discipline, and a commitment to civic engagement.
