The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced a revision to its daily schedule for releasing local gold prices, effective October 26, 2026. This adjustment, which shifts the timing of price disclosures by one hour, is necessitated by the seasonal time difference between Ghana and the United Kingdom. The new schedule will remain in place through the first quarter of 2027, ensuring that local market participants align with international benchmarks during the winter months.
Under the updated timetable, the morning gold price announcement will move from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Similarly, the afternoon price disclosure, previously set for 2:00 p.m., will now occur at 3:00 p.m. These changes are directly linked to the United Kingdom’s transition out of British Summer Time, which impacts the timing of global benchmarks such as those from the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). GoldBod indicated that this temporary shift is a routine operational requirement to maintain synchronization with global trading windows.
The board has issued a compliance notice to all licensed gold buyers and industry stakeholders, urging them to adapt their daily operations to the new timeframes immediately. While the timing of the announcements has changed, GoldBod emphasized that all existing trading rules and regulatory requirements remain in force. Licensed buyers are expected to monitor these updates closely to ensure their transactions reflect the most current official rates during the period ending March 27, 2027.
This seasonal adjustment is standard practice for Ghana’s gold sector, which relies heavily on international price discovery mechanisms to value local output. By delaying the announcements by an hour, GoldBod ensures that Ghanaian traders have access to accurate pricing that reflects the most recent data from the London markets. The schedule is expected to revert to its original morning and afternoon slots once the United Kingdom resumes British Summer Time in late March 2027.
