Fidelity Bank Ghana has become the first and only bank in the country to achieve the 2X Certified Advanced status, a global recognition for excellence in gender-smart finance. Awarded by 2X Global, this certification highlights the bank’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment through its internal leadership, employment policies, and outward-facing financial products. This milestone places Fidelity Bank among a select group of international institutions that have successfully integrated gender-responsive strategies into their core business operations and investment portfolios.
The bank has implemented several strategic initiatives to meet the rigorous standards required for the 2X Advanced status. These include the creation of specialized Women’s Desks to provide focused support, the launch of the Fidelity Young Entrepreneurs Initiative, and the development of tailored digital banking solutions designed to meet the specific financial needs of women and girls. Furthermore, Fidelity Bank has institutionalized these practices through collaborations with global partners like Accion International and Value for Women. These partnerships have been instrumental in refining the bank’s service delivery models to better support female entrepreneurs.
Atta Yeboah Gyan, Deputy Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, stated that the certification reflects the bank’s responsibility to foster an inclusive economy. He noted that empowering women and supporting women-led businesses are essential for sustainable economic growth and community development in Ghana. By securing this certification, the bank aims to continue expanding financial access and inclusion, reinforcing its position as a leader in socially responsible banking within the Ghanaian financial sector.
