A 19-year-old woman, Emmanuella Asante, has been remanded into police custody by a court in Accra following the death of her 33-year-old boyfriend, Enoch Abrokwa. The incident, which has shocked the Ofankor Barrier community, allegedly occurred during a domestic dispute that turned violent earlier this month. The victim passed away several days after the confrontation while receiving emergency medical treatment.
According to police reports, the altercation took place on October 9, 2026. During the disagreement, Asante is alleged to have used a piece of broken glass to stab Abrokwa in the chest. Following the incident, the victim was rushed to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, for urgent care. Despite undergoing surgery to treat his injuries, Abrokwa succumbed to his wounds on October 14, 2026.
The Tesano Divisional Police Command, which is overseeing the investigation, arrested Asante on October 10, shortly after the initial report of the stabbing. Police sources indicate that the suspect admitted to the act during her interrogation. She has since been charged in connection with the death and appeared before the court, which ordered her to remain in custody until her next scheduled appearance on November 3, 2026.
In light of the tragedy, law enforcement officials have renewed their appeal to the public to seek peaceful and constructive ways of resolving personal and domestic conflicts. The police emphasized the importance of mediation and restraint to prevent such disputes from escalating into fatal violence. The case remains under active investigation as authorities finalize the evidence for the upcoming court proceedings.
