The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of scheduled power outages across various parts of the Tema Region. These interruptions, slated to run from Sunday, September 29, through Tuesday, October 1, are necessary to facilitate essential maintenance work on the regional power infrastructure. According to the power distributor, the daily outages are expected to last seven hours, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding by 4:00 p.m. each day. This proactive maintenance is designed to ensure the long-term reliability of the grid in one of Ghana’s most critical industrial and residential hubs. The maintenance schedule is divided geographically over the three-day period to minimize widespread disruption. On the first day, September 29, affected areas include Cambodia, Community 18, Bankuman, the Naval Quarters, and several residential estates such as Manet and Coastal Estates. The impact will also extend to industrial and institutional sites like Kasapreko Packaging and Manhean Senior High School. On September 30, the outages will shift to locations including Golf City, Sakumono Village, and several coastal and inland towns such as Big Ada, Ada Foah, and Sege. Key leisure and hospitality destinations like Aqua Safari and Treasure Island are also included in Monday’s schedule. The final day of the exercise, October 1, will focus on communities including Shalom Spot, Devtraco, Gbetsile, and the Green Hill Hospital vicinity. Other affected zones include Danadams, PS Global, and the Bethlehem and Tulaku communities. In an official statement, the ECG management expressed regret for the inconvenience these planned outages would cause to domestic and commercial consumers. The utility provider has urged residents and business owners in the listed communities to make the necessary arrangements to mitigate the impact of the seven-hour daily disruptions. These maintenance activities are part of the ECG’s broader efforts to improve the efficiency of the power distribution network within the Tema Region. Regular system upgrades are critical for preventing unplanned equipment failures and ensuring the stability of the national grid. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official ECG communication channels for any updates regarding the restoration of power or potential changes to the maintenance schedule.
