The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Tema Region conducted an intensive customer engagement drive at the Community One market on October 29, 2026. This outreach, organized as part of the activities marking Customer Service Month, provided a platform for market traders and residents to interact directly with officials from the utility provider. The initiative aimed to bridge the communication gap between the company and its customers by addressing immediate service concerns and improving general awareness of ECG’s operational procedures.
During the session, officials prioritized educating the public about the legal and safe processes for acquiring electricity meters. This focus addressed common questions from the trading community regarding service applications and billing transparency. Zita Kyei-Gyamfi, the Revenue Protection Manager for the region, led the discussions alongside Patricia Brefo from the ECG Head Office. The team provided practical guidance on navigating the company's service protocols and ensuring that customers follow the correct administrative channels to avoid being defrauded by unauthorized intermediaries.
Beyond procedural education, the engagement served as a stern warning against the practice of illegal connections. Kyei-Gyamfi emphasized that such unauthorized interventions not only lead to significant revenue losses for the company but also compromise the safety and reliability of the electricity supply for the entire community. By engaging directly with the traders in their place of business, ECG officials underscored their commitment to building a more collaborative relationship with consumers, promising that the feedback gathered would be used to enhance service delivery standards across the region.
