The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a formal notification regarding planned power outages affecting several communities in the Eastern and Central Regions. These service interruptions are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 20, and Wednesday, October 21, 2026. According to the power distributor, the outages are necessary to facilitate essential maintenance work on the electricity grid in these specific zones.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas should expect the power supply to be disconnected between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the designated days. In the Eastern Region, the maintenance activities will specifically impact communities such as Apeu-Wawase and Shematare. Meanwhile, in the Central Region, the outage is expected to affect Moree Township. The company indicated that these works are part of its routine efforts to improve the reliability of the power supply and ensure the long-term integrity of the distribution infrastructure.
ECG has advised all customers within the listed communities to prepare accordingly for the scheduled interruptions. This includes taking necessary precautions with electrical appliances and planning daily activities around the specified seven-hour window. The utility provider expressed its regret for any inconvenience these outages may cause to residents and commercial operators in the affected jurisdictions. Maintenance of this nature is typically prioritized to prevent more significant, unplanned outages that could result from equipment failure.
