The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has recognized 10 Special Load Tariff (SLT) customers in the Ashanti West Region for their consistency in bill payments and long-standing partnership. The awards, presented during the 2026 Customer Service Week between October 27 and October 29, highlighted the importance of industrial and commercial clients in maintaining the utility provider's operations. These high-consumption users are considered crucial to the financial health of the power sector and the stability of the broader national grid.
Among the notable recipients were Guinness Ghana Ltd, Lancaster Kumasi City Hotel, and XY Plywood Ghana. These companies were selected based on their prompt settlement of electricity bills and their continued patronage of ECG’s services. The recognition serves as a gesture of appreciation for the vital role these large-scale consumers play in the regional economy and the energy sector's financial sustainability. By honoring these institutions, ECG aims to encourage a culture of timely payment among all its consumers.
During the presentations, ECG’s General Manager for the Ashanti West Region, Ing. George Amoah, underscored the company’s dedication to enhancing service delivery. He emphasized that the awards are part of a broader strategy to foster better relationships with high-consumption clients. Amoah noted that by improving power supply reliability and addressing the specific technical needs of SLT customers, ECG aims to support local business growth and industrialization. He also reaffirmed the company's commitment to modernization and infrastructure development to meet increasing demand.
The event also provided a platform for ECG management to engage directly with corporate stakeholders to identify and resolve operational challenges. By prioritizing feedback from its largest customers, the company intends to refine its customer service protocols and ensure a more stable power supply. This initiative aligns with national goals of leveraging reliable energy to drive economic development and strengthen the partnership between the utility sector and private industry, ensuring that the Ashanti Region remains a hub for industrial productivity.
