The social landscape in Accra is set for a busy season of community engagement, ranging from vibrant cultural celebrations to the solemn observation of life transitions. Leading these developments, Chalé Radio has officially announced the date for the 2026 Chalé Day festival following a successful friendship mixer held last month. Simultaneously, the community is preparing to gather for the funeral services of the late Mrs. Alice Serwah Manu, highlighting the dual nature of Ghanaian social life in bringing people together for both celebration and remembrance.
Building on the success of the Chalé Day Mixer 2026, organizers have confirmed that the main Chalé Day celebration will take place on December 5, 2026, at Place 100 Park in Accra. The recent mixer, which commemorated the United Nations’ International Day of Friendship, focused on the Ghanaian concept of 'Chalé'—symbolizing friendship and connection. The event provided a relaxed atmosphere for networking and real-life interactions, setting a high standard for the upcoming December festival, which aims to further strengthen community bonds through culture and social exchange.
In the more immediate future, the family of Mrs. Alice Serwah Manu (1955–2026) has invited the public to participate in her final rites scheduled for the weekend of September 12, 2026. The program will commence at the Mary Mother of Good Counsel Church in Airport West with a filing past from 7:30 am, followed by a burial service. Final funeral rites will then be held at The Underbridge Event Centre in East Legon from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Mourners are requested to observe the traditional Saturday dress code of black to honor the memory of the deceased.
The weekend’s observances will conclude with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 9:00 am, followed by a gathering at the Manu family residence in NTHC Estate, Adjringanor. For the Sunday services, the requested attire is black and white. These events, though different in tone, reflect the vibrant and interconnected nature of Accra's social fabric, where the spirit of friendship and the honoring of legacy continue to serve as the pillars of community life.
