Ghana’s entertainment industry is preparing for a landmark final quarter in 2026, marked by a blend of nostalgic comedy reunions, high-profile highlife celebrations, and major award recognitions. Highlighting the schedule is the "Lekzy Unleashed – The Godfathers Edition," set for November 7 at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra. Hosted by two-time Comedian of the Year Lekzy Decomic, the event will reunite comedy pioneers KSM, Tommy Annan Forson, and Fritz Baffour, offering a rare bridge between the veterans of the 1980s and the modern comedy scene. The show will also feature South African comedian Chris Mapane and musician Okyeame Kwame, reflecting a broader effort to honor those who paved the way for the current generation of Ghanaian performers. The celebration of legacy continues into December with two significant concerts dedicated to the preservation of Ghana’s highlife heritage. Calvin Fosu, son of the legendary Daddy Lumba, has announced a legacy concert on December 19, 2026, at the UPSA Auditorium to honor his father’s immense contribution to music. This will be followed closely on December 20 by award-winning highlife artist Bisa Kdei’s maiden edition of "The Convention." Held at the Underbridge Annex in East Legon, Kdei’s event aims to become an annual staple, showcasing live performances that celebrate highlife as a cornerstone of Ghanaian culture. In addition to these upcoming events, the industry has already seen significant milestones in October 2026. Musician and entrepreneur Sparqlyn dominated the Golden Stars Awards in Tema Newtown on October 2, securing three major honors: the African Cultural Leadership & Music Excellence Award, the Pan-African Creative & Social Impact Award, and a special citation for community contribution. His success comes alongside the steady rise of his single "Rosina." Meanwhile, the gospel collective Team Eternity Ghana (TEG) has released their new album, "The Promise – Phase 1," coinciding with their 13th anniversary. The album draws inspiration from biblical themes of assurance and is designed to provide spiritual hope and restoration to listeners across generations. While the season is largely celebratory, it has not been without its moments of tension. During the ShattaFest concert in Ho on October 3, dancehall artiste Shatta Wale made headlines after a heated confrontation with his DJ, Alinko. The artist threatened the DJ on stage following a song change that disrupted his set. Despite the friction, the performance continued as part of the annual collaboration with Momofest, reminding fans of the unpredictable nature of live entertainment. Collectively, these events—from spiritual releases and award triumphs to legendary reunions and high-octane performances—underscore the dynamic and diverse nature of Ghana’s current cultural landscape.
