Accra-based non-governmental organization Bridge Effect has donated a significant consignment of educational materials to schools within the Teshie Municipality. The donation, which includes essential items such as backpacks, exercise books, pens, and pencils, was carried out under the organization’s "back-to-school" initiative. This program specifically targets children from vulnerable backgrounds to ensure that the financial constraints of parents do not hinder their children’s ability to access basic learning tools at the start of the academic term.
The items were distributed to several educational institutions, including the Dar-es-Salaam Primary School and other surrounding basic schools in the area. Speaking during the presentation, Abraham Nii Bortey Bortey, the founder of Bridge Effect, reaffirmed the organization’s long-term commitment to improving educational outcomes for children in the capital. He explained that the initiative is born out of a desire to see every child properly equipped for the classroom. Mr. Bortey also appealed for partnerships with other donor organizations and corporate bodies, noting that collaborative efforts would allow the NGO to expand its reach to more communities.
Receiving the items on behalf of the schools, Florence Koomson, a School Improvement Support Officer, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture. She highlighted that many students in the municipality face challenges in acquiring basic stationery, which often impacts their academic performance and attendance. While thanking Bridge Effect for the support, Mrs. Koomson also drew attention to broader infrastructure deficits in the area, calling for additional investment in classrooms and modern educational resources to create a more conducive learning environment for the pupils.
