Two workers have been hospitalized after structural pillars at a Breaking Yoke Ministry construction site in Klagon, near Lashibi, collapsed on them. The incident occurred while a group of workers was engaged in offloading bags of cement at the location. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene as initial reports suggested that more individuals might be caught under the fallen structures.
According to eyewitness accounts and footage shared on social media, approximately eight men were working in the immediate vicinity when the collapse occurred. While two victims were rescued and transported for medical attention, residents and onlookers expressed significant fear that other workers could be trapped beneath the heavy debris. The sudden nature of the collapse caused immediate panic among those present at the construction site.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is currently on-site, conducting a thorough assessment of the scene and searching for any additional casualties. Fire service personnel are working to secure the area and determine the stability of the remaining parts of the building. The search and rescue operation is prioritizing the clearing of rubble to ensure that all personnel who were on-site are accounted for.
As the investigation into the cause of the structural failure begins, the Klagon-Lashibi community has raised concerns regarding building standards and construction safety. The site remains closed to the public while authorities continue their work. Updates on the condition of the injured workers and the final results of the search operation are expected as the GNFS concludes its technical evaluation of the collapse.
