Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is scheduled to present the 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on November 12. The announcement was made by Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem during the launch of the ‘Ghana in Numbers 2025’ report in Accra. The upcoming budget, expected to be themed "New Economy, New Ghana: Jobs and Prosperity," marks a strategic shift from macroeconomic stabilization toward a phase of aggressive productivity, technology-driven growth, and industrial transformation.
This fiscal plan follows a period of robust economic recovery under the current administration. According to government data, Ghana's economy grew by 6% in 2025 and reached 6.2% in the first half of 2026. A significant milestone in this recovery has been the decline in inflation, which dropped from 23.8% in December 2024 to 5.2% by September 2026. Deputy Minister Ampem emphasized that the 2027 budget will focus on converting these macroeconomic gains into tangible improvements in living standards, higher incomes, and expanded economic opportunities for all citizens.
A central pillar of the 2027 Budget will be the ‘New Economy’ blueprint, which prioritizes job creation and value addition. The government aims to transition the nation away from its historical reliance on raw material exports toward the production of high-value goods and services. This transition involves supporting local businesses, fostering innovation among the youth, and providing the infrastructure necessary for entrepreneurs to drive national competitiveness. The budget is also expected to reinforce fiscal discipline while ensuring the continued funding of critical infrastructure projects.
Looking ahead, the government has set an economic growth target of 5% for 2027 and aims to maintain an inflation rate of approximately 8%. The upcoming presentation will outline specific policies to protect vulnerable households and secure Ghana’s position as a productivity-led economy. The launch of the ‘Ghana in Numbers’ report, where the budget date was announced, is intended to provide lawmakers and the public with the data necessary for informed parliamentary discussions and long-term national planning.
