The Asor Mentoring Network hosted the 2026 edition of the Level Up Conference at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), providing career development training to 360 young people. The event targeted university students, recent graduates, and young professionals in the Ashanti Region, focusing on equipping them with the practical skills necessary to navigate an increasingly competitive global job market. Held under the theme "Empowering University Students, Graduates and Young Professionals to Create the Future They Want," the conference sought to bridge the gap between academic qualifications and modern workplace demands.
The sessions addressed the pressing issue of youth unemployment in Ghana by promoting innovation, creativity, and the adoption of proactive career strategies. Key speakers, including Dr. Shalom Addo Danso and Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, urged participants to look beyond their degree certificates and focus on developing a versatile skill set. They emphasized that while academic excellence remains important, the ability to adapt to changing industrial landscapes and cultivate positive professional habits is often the deciding factor in career success.
Participants were encouraged to embrace continuous learning as a lifelong commitment rather than a phase tied exclusively to formal education. By providing a platform for mentorship and professional networking, the Level Up Conference aimed to inspire the next generation of Ghanaian leaders to take ownership of their professional trajectories. The organizers highlighted that such initiatives are vital for reducing dependency on traditional employment and empowering youth to create their own opportunities through entrepreneurial thinking and specialized expertise.
