Pastor Alfred Mark O. Attey of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church has called on Christians to cultivate a more profound personal relationship with God to better navigate the complexities of contemporary life. Delivering a sermon titled "Alone with God" at the Middle-East Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the clergyman underscored that spiritual growth and resilience are fundamentally rooted in individual prayer and quiet meditation. He emphasized that in an era of constant movement, finding silence is a spiritual necessity rather than a luxury.
During his address, Pastor Attey highlighted the critical need for believers to intentionally set aside time for reflection, away from the persistent noise and distractions of daily activities. He argued that such moments of communion are essential for spiritual renewal and serve as the foundation for effective Christian service. According to the pastor, this internal strengthening is what enables individuals to effectively contribute to the mission of the church and remain steadfast in their religious responsibilities despite the pressures of the modern world.
The service, which was attended by church leadership and the pastor’s wife, provided a platform for the congregation to reassess their spiritual priorities. Pastor Attey noted that a disciplined spiritual life directly translates into a more vibrant and active church community. By fostering a culture of meditation and personal prayer, he suggested that the Seventh-day Adventist community could better fulfill its mandate and foster a deeper sense of fellowship among its members, reaffirming their commitment to their spiritual duties.
