The award was presented to him by Samuel Aboabire, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), highlighting the national significance of his local impact and the cross-regional appreciation for his work.
Upon receiving the honor, Duriyem emphasized the abundance of untapped athletic talent within the Upper East Region. He urged local stakeholders, including business leaders and community members, to invest more heavily in football infrastructure and development programs. By fostering local support, he noted that the region could better position its young athletes for national and international success, ensuring that football continues to serve as a tool for community growth and individual opportunity.
