Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, has officially partnered with W Sports International to enhance its athletic programmes. The sponsorship deal, which marks a significant investment in youth sports development, aims to provide students with expanded opportunities to excel both on the field and in the classroom. This initiative underscores a growing commitment to fostering talent within Ghana’s second-cycle institutions by bridging the gap between academic rigour and competitive sports.
The partnership was facilitated by Nana Bediako Brogya Sarpong, who introduced the sponsorship to the school’s management. With this agreement, PRESEC becomes the first educational institution in the Greater Accra Region to join the W Sports International family. Nationally, the school is the 21st second-cycle institution to benefit from this specific support package, highlighting the scale of W Sports International’s nationwide campaign to revitalise grassroots sports.
The initiative is designed to ensure that young athletes do not have to choose between their education and their sporting ambitions. By providing professional-level support and resources, the sponsorship seeks to create a sustainable pathway for talent identification and development. School officials and representatives from W Sports International emphasized that the collaboration is not just about equipment or funding, but about instilling discipline and unity among students through healthy competition.
As PRESEC integrates this new support into its extracurricular activities, the move is expected to set a benchmark for other schools in the capital. The call for unity among schools remains a central theme of the partnership, encouraging a collaborative spirit within the Ghanaian sports ecosystem. This development represents a broader trend of private sector involvement in educational infrastructure, ensuring that the next generation of Ghanaian athletes is well-equipped for future challenges.
