Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, has provided a GH₵10,000 financial boost to the Black Challenge, Ghana's national amputee football team. The donation was made to support the team’s upcoming campaign at the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Mexico. This contribution is part of efforts to ensure the team is adequately prepared for the global tournament.
The presentation occurred during a visit by the MP to the team's hotel in Achimota, Accra. Alongside the monetary gift, Mr. Assafuah donated several cartons of bottled water and assorted soft drinks to assist the players with their hydration needs during their training sessions. During the visit, the lawmaker praised the players for their resilience and commitment to representing Ghana, noting that their efforts on the international stage serve as a source of national pride and an inspiration to many.
The 2026 World Cup is slated to run from November 13 to November 22, 2026. Mr. Assafuah’s contribution is intended to alleviate some of the financial pressures on the team as they finalize their travel and tournament logistics. He also called on other corporate bodies and individuals to support the Black Challenge, emphasizing that collective national efforts are necessary to ensure the team has all the resources required to compete effectively and pursue the world title in Mexico.
