The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has clarified that the ongoing delay in the disbursement of allowances to students at three specific institutions is a result of administrative and clearance hurdles. According to the association, trainees at Savannah College of Education, Christ the Teacher College of Education, and Ghana Muslim Mission College of Education have yet to receive their payments due to outstanding registration requirements and account verification issues. In a statement released on October 26, 2023, the association’s leadership explained that the delays are not a general systemic failure but are linked to specific compliance factors at the affected colleges. TTAG noted that several trainees need to finalize their registration processes and ensure that their GCB Bank account details are correctly captured within the payment system. To resolve these bottlenecks, the association is actively collaborating with the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), the body responsible for managing the disbursement of trainee allowances across the country. TTAG has urged all affected students at the three colleges to proactively verify their registration status and account information to prevent further payment disruptions. The association assured its members that it remains committed to ensuring that all eligible trainees receive their stipends promptly once the necessary clearances are completed. This development highlights the importance of administrative accuracy in the management of the allowance scheme, which remains a critical financial support pillar for teacher trainees in Ghana.
