Torgbiga Addo IX, known in private life as Dr. Frank Hukporti, was formally installed as the Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area on October 25, 2026. The coronation follows the passing of his predecessor, Torgbiga Addo VIII, who died in January 2026 after a 43-year reign. The ceremony marks a significant transition for the traditional area, bringing in a leader with an extensive background in both law enforcement and academia.
The new paramount chief is a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police and a German-trained educationist who holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology. During his installation, Torgbiga Addo IX pledged to build upon the legacy of his predecessor, who was well-regarded for his contributions to education and community development. The transition occurred following the final funeral rites of the late chief, ensuring a seamless continuation of traditional leadership in the region.
Outlining his vision for the Klikor Traditional Area, Torgbiga Addo IX emphasized a development agenda centered on tertiary education and infrastructure. He announced plans to establish a university within Klikor and prioritized the improvement of the local road network. He expressed a desire to transform the traditional area into a modern city, leveraging his diverse professional experience to drive economic and social progress for his subjects.
In addition to modern development, Torgbiga Addo IX aims to elevate the area's cultural profile on the international stage. He revealed intentions to seek UNESCO recognition for Klikor’s historic shrines, aiming to have them designated as world cultural heritage sites. This strategy is intended to preserve the spiritual and historical identity of the area while promoting cultural tourism and global awareness of Klikor’s rich heritage.
